Getting Started

Research shows that when we experience emotionally fulfilling relationships, we are happier mentally, emotionally, spiritually & physically.

Therapy Process

My job is to be out of a job with you (smile) and to help you reach your goals. I will be honest and transparent with you each step of the way and am always open to questions. Please use our time to work hard towards your goals. After all, you have been "doing life" in a particular way thus far, why not try something different and let me help you with my clinical knowledge create and strengthen the relationships that mean most to you.

First Appointment

After making an appointment, please go to my "Forms" page to download, fill out and bring with you forms necessary for consent in treatment. I can answer any questions you might have at our first session. When you arrive at my office, please have a seat in the waiting room and I will come out and get you at our appointment time.

During our first appointment, I would like to hear your story, and I can share with you about how I work. We should have an idea at the end of the session the direction we will go in future sessions and after a few sessions I can generally share with you an idea of how long therapy will be depending on your goals, . Usually I prefer that the first four weeks of therapy, you come weekly. We can talk more about those options in session.

I know that coming to therapy can be difficult and emotional and I aim to help create a safe environment for you to explore even the most troubling issues.

Payment/Insurance

I take payment at each session. I do not bill for insurance but can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance or HSA account for reimbursement. I take Venmo, Zelle, Check, or Cash at time of service.

Individual Therapy

Do you find yourself in the same struggle again and again? You are not alone! We often wonder why we do the same thing over and over expecting different results. Perhaps you are ready to deal with a relational injury from childhood or a past relationship or simply want to explore a life transition you are going through. Therapy can be helpful and can help boost self-esteem.

Couples Therapy

In couple therapy, your relationship is my client. This means that I do not take sides but rather help explore with you the negative patterns that may have developed and bring understanding so that your relationship can develop positive patterns instead. I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a 9 step process, to help you create closer and stronger connections with your partner.  If you are interested in Pre-Marital work, I combine my certification in Prepare-Enrich and my training in EFT to help you create the marital relationship you desire before the big day!

Faith-Based Counseling

I offer integration of biblical truths into my practice for faith-based clients--at the client's request.. I have had extended theological training and know that your faith can play a central part of the healing process. For all clients, whether faith-based or non-faith based, I offer a warm, non-judgmental environment to explore the issues you bring and help you reach your goals.

Divorce/Separation

While my heart is for every couple to reconnect, I realize that this isn't always possible. I can support you as a couple or individual navigating the process of divorce and/or separation. Processing the hurt, grief, identity changes, co-parenting, and dealing with a difficult parent, as well as helping your children adjust to their new situation. While I don't work with minors, I can help you as the parent(s) support them well.

Dating & Finding the Right Partner

Do you struggle with dating and choosing the same person over and over who isn't the right fit? Are you newly out of marriage or relationship and don't know where to start? Although I am not a dating coach, I offer individual therapeutic support & resources in working through the obstacles that keep you from thriving in the relationship that is right for you!

Other Specialities

Loss is involved in many relationships and when someone we love dies. I received specialized training on working with grief at San Diego Hospice. A small part of my practice is working with birth moms and adoptive families. I also offer mother-daughter and pre-baby couple counseling. Please ask me about other areas I work in during our call. If I cannot support you, I am happy to give you referrals to esteemed colleagues who work with that issue. I enjoy being a resource and supporting the community--even if we don't work directly together.
